review: Devil's Night. Is Otto's the new CBGB's?
CBGB’s might be gone, but us people of the night have a new place we can call home. I am talking about Otto’s Shrunken Head.
Not sure if it is the place itself, the bands that play there, or a combination of both. All in all it could be the great spirit of father Vincent that makes sure everybody has a safe, naughty time.
I strongly believe that Otto’s is the unofficial new home of the Saints of Pain. The number of gigs played at Otto’s is slowly creeping up on the number of gigs they played at CBGB’s. (or did that happen already?)
If you have no clue what I’m talking about, then let me paint this picture for you.
You walk towards Otto’s and you know already that you are at a cool place. How do you know? Because as soon as you approach the entrance, the group of people hanging outside start calling your name and welcoming you.
Once inside, the bartender nods at you, because he knows you are going to order a heinekin. A band is playing in the back, and you try to find a spot at the bar waiting, just waiting for the band that will bring the house down.
You talk to some people, some friends come over and you have a beer or two, go outside for a cigarette, and come back to your beer.
Then the moment arrives when father Vincent announces that the greatest band on earth is about to take the stage, and that’s when the magic happens. That’s when you feel it in your bones that you are going to have a blast, that new disciples are going to be won over, and that you are going to rock the night away next to old disciples...

Review of the CD Listening Party
hey gang,
I apologize for not writing earlier, but my internet was fucked up for two weeks. I finally canceled Verizon and decided to go with comcast, which to be honest, is not that much better.
Now onto what everybody needs to read about. The much anticipated CD listening party that was held on 10/02 at Otto's Shrunken head in Manhattan. first of all I have to say, the CD sounds FUCKING AWSEOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When we got there, the whole club was one big Saints of Pain party area. They sealed off a portion of the bar where the pizza was served for everybody.
It wasn't a concert it was a HUGE party. I mean the whole gang was there and we were all just sitting around listening to music and drinking whatever we were drinking.
Father Vince would announce the next song from the CD, and then play some great music in between songs. Laz of course was louder than the music system even without a microphone.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and inviting. Everybody was just chatting with everybody, talking about anything and everything and chowing on some pizza. It was really awesome to see my favorite band in such a relax atmosphere.
Then without Syxx even knowing about it, they brought out a big cake to celebrate his birthday. Shall I dare say that he might have been a bit embarrassed? he was definitely surprised though.
It was a great time had by all, we closed down the bar and father Vince finally had to kick all of us out at about 4am. The most important part though was the CD. Did I mention that it sounds awesome??? I cant wait until it goes on sale, so that I can finally get it on my ipod and listen to Therapy all day long...
On another note. Tomorrow is Halloween, and the saints are playing with Hate in the Box at Otto's Shrunken Head. This is going to be a show NOT to be missed. So I will see you all there. For those of you that won't be able to make it, log back here to read a play by play of the hardest night in metal with the Saints of Pain.
